What We Learned: Arsenal 5 Everton 1

After a tumultuous transfer window, today we showed a newArsenal side who looked like a shadow of what we've seen this past season. The football played today was typical "Wengerball" with fierce attacking play and ease of access in behind Everton's defense. The balls we played from the back to midfield and then up front all looked seamless and it seemed like things are on the up.

We started with our usual team with the exception of Ramsey coming back in the side, playing alongside Xhaka. The biggest change was dropping Lacazette from the side and playing Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang up front, Aubameyang taking over Lacazette's spot today.

I thought we would see Lacazette start up front today as I thought Aubameyang would sit out due to being sick, but I'm sure every Arsenal fan is happy with the boss' decision.

The initial start of the game looked competitive enough, as Everton started off strong, looking like they knew what was expected of them today. They sat back and tried to come forward a bit more, harrassing our backline and whenever we were on the ball. Soon enough, we started to break them down quite easily as the half progressed and then the floodgates opened.

The first goal of the game reminded me of what our football is known for, which is intricate and free-flowing. Aubameyang crossed the ball over to Mkhitaryan, who then passed it into the feet of Aaron Ramsey who put it in to make it 1-0 under ten minutes. With the first goal, I liked how Aubameyang could pick out M and especially how Mkhitaryan provided such a good ball into Ramsey's feet.

The second goal didn't come too long after that, as Ozil corner was headed in by Mustafi and then dodgily put in my Koscienly, beating Aubameyang to it. We were flying at 2-0, but then all of a sudden a rejuvenated Aaron Ramsey calls for the ball and decided to take a shot outside the box, which deflected off of an Everton player and went in to make it 3-0. We were 3-0 up under 20 minutes and it felt like the game couldn't get any better. Everton were split right open as we were playing like we were at the training ground.

Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan's rekindled connection seems to have not been gone for long because M once again provided a ball over the top for Aubameyang, who brilliantly, 1 v 1 with the keeper, chipped the ball over the keeper and made it 4-0. The goal was definitely offside, which I'm sure if you're an Everton fan is infuriating, but I feel we've had our fair share of bad calls, so I'll take this is goal deserved.

After ending the half 4-0, I didn't expect much of the second half as usually things start to settle down once you've murdered a side in the first 45 minutes, and that's exactly what happened. We conceded a goal early on, but then added to Everton's loss as Ramsey scored his third goal to complete his first ever career hat-trick.

I couldn't be more happy for Ramsey, who is a brilliant player and is the type of player who you know will get you goals, or will help be a man up front to help get goals. Today was a good day for almost everyone, especially our new boys, Ramsey, and Ozil.

My only worry from today is still our defense. I think that our team going forward is very nice to watch and it seems like we were comfortable today, but I can't help but remember the lapses of defensive concentration that I've seen from games past reappear today. I hope we can sort out our defense, because next week we're playing Spurs.

Eitherway, I'm really excited to see what this team can produce, especially the fact that we're playing Spurs next weekend. I would give today's MOTM to Mkhitaryan today, as he looked like an entirely different player to the one under Mourinho at United. I hope that we can keep up this form because we looked really inspired today.
