What We Learned: Arsenal 2 Swansea 1

Sunday's match was much anticipated I'm sure as our home form has been outstanding as of late. We started with the same lineup as the Everton game last week and needless to say, we played how you would expect us to play lately.

The balls were clean, we dominated possession as Swansea had no other option but to sit back, but I have to give credit to Swansea who usually put up a fight against us, and today they did just that.

The first half was reminiscent of the away game at Everton where we had a good spell in the beginning, but then the other side scored the first goal, disrupting the momentum we created. Twenty-two minutes in and Swansea switched up the play as Sam Clucas got a hold of the ball from a flailing Koscienly and then put it in past Petr Cech.

If the Everton game went any different I would've probably been yelling at my screen and feeling terrible, but we were in the same situation a week ago, so I thought that we would have some fight to level things, which we eventually did in the second half.

The first half ended 1-0 to Swansea, and to be fair, we could've gone 2-0 down at the end of the half, which required Cech to come out of his area and pull out a great save to deny Swansea. We looked more threatening towards the end of the first half and the way we were still putting plays together gave me confidence that we could possibly expect at least one goal from us.

We finally did equalize in the 51' of the second half as Kolasinac got a foot on the ball and it deflected its way into the back of the net. From this point on, we started to go back to how we were playing in the beginning of the match, barely giving Swansea a chance. Just minutes later, we produced a great goal which started from the right hand side as Xhaka sprayed a pass to Kolasinac, who gave it off to Ramsey, who made it 2-1 in the 56'.

Swansea did their fair share this past weekend against us and the game had the potential of turning on its back if it weren't for some good saves and a bit of luck. But, I don't want to undermime our performance, which I feel deserved a positive result, but it wasn't the exciting football that we saw at Goodison Park last week if that's what you were thinking.

Overall, the team performance was good, but I did see some mistakes here and there at the back which could've costed us. I am also still hoping that Xhaka finds some consistency in his play as sometimes he makes passes where you can't believe he just pulled that off, and then other times you want to take him off the pitch because he gives the ball away so much in midfield. Lacazette I felt looked a little off the pace during this game and I think that the attack of Lacazette, Alexis, and Ozil (and Ramsey when he feels like it) need to play more games to get used to playing together to hit their peak.
