What We Learned: Chelsea 0 Arsenal 0

Considering the fact that we just played a Europa League match two days ago and that we have a horrible record playing away from home at Stamford Bridge, I'll happily take the draw. I wasn't expecting a draw, but a loss, but, during the match, I wasn't expecting a draw, but a win.

The performance today against Chelsea was one to be proud of. Today we showed just how good Arsenal can be on the day and the players and the manager deserve lots of praise for their performance out there today.

The lineup was a ballsy one from Wenger as it didn't feature Alexis Sanchez for the second Premier League game in a row and with a change in the back with Koscienly playing on the right and Mustafi coming inside. The way we were set up was perfect and you could tell just by watching how well the tactics were drilled in before going on the pitch.

We held our shape very well and were strong defensively, hence the scoreline. We defended well as a unit and this could especially be seen in midfield as Ramsey and Xhaka were very disciplined today and worked well together to help build up play (especially Ramsey), but not to overcompensate and leave a lot of space behind.

Going forward, we were very convincing as well. Today we showed that you can defend well, just as much as you can attack well. We played a good defensive game, but we looked threatening every time we were in Chelsea's half of the pitch and we had some decent chances and had our fair share of possession.

We progressed very well during the match after a shaky start. We grew into the game and it came to a point where you were expecting an Arsenal goal and not a Chelsea one. Our best chance of the game came at the very end of the first half where Ramsey's shot at goal hit the post and to add to the frustration, Lacazette couldn't put in the rebound. At this moment we should've gone 1-0 up, and deservedly so.

The second half was more of the same. Both teams were cancelling each other out and as the game was winding down, it looked as if both teams were okay for a draw, but there was definitely still some desperation to win from both sides. Another close chance was When Mustafi put in a header which was called offside. In theory, we should've been 2-0 up in the second half, but either way, this just shows how convincing our performance was today, which was really refreshing to see because something usually goes wrong for us at Stamford Bridge, but today we really held our own.

At the very, very end of the match, David Luiz charged into Kolasinac with a high boot and you can only help but wince during that part of the match. It looked like game over at that point for Kolasinac, but he's a little insane and got right back up after the challenge while David Luiz left the pitch on a red. Thankfully he's alright, but one player who did go off looking a little suspect was Danny Welbeck, who like the rest of the team, had a solid performance. Hopefully he recovers soon from whatever knock he took out there today.

If we continue to play like this for the rest of the season, I don't see any reason why we can't challenge for the league. I'm still not sure how much time the boss wants to put into the Europa League, but we can definitely catch up to the Manchester sides at the top of the table if we keep putting out resilient performances like this and win the games we should be winning.

One man who I thought deserves all the plaudits is Aaron Ramsey who ran the team from midfield. He was everywhere whether it be putting in a defensive shift or providing an outlet in attack. I hope that the guy stays fit and that he continues to develop a good partnership with Xhaka in midfield.
